Our name
The story behind
Dandi Village.
Dandi Village takes its name from the coastal village of Dandi in Gujarat, India, where Mahatma Gandhi’s 1930 Salt March culminated in a defining act of peaceful protest. On April 6, Gandhi gathered salt from the shore in defiance of British salt laws, helping inspire a nationwide movement of nonviolent civil disobedience. Our name honors that historic moment and also reflects a personal connection: Dandi Village’s owners have substantial experience in the salt industry.
